Q. How long do IPL treatments take?
Your Intense Pulsed Light treatment takes around the same amount of time as a wax treatment for the same area.
The first visit will be around 30 minutes to perform as we need to do a patch test and ask you some questions.
Why do I have to have many IPL treatments for hair reduction?
IPL targets the hair compound called melanin, this give hair the colour (pigmentation).
Melanin is most prevalent in hair during the early-anagen phase of hair growth, and hairs in this stage of growth are the ones most responsive to Intense Pulsed Light. Ongoing treatments are needed to catch each hair as it passes through this early-anagen stage of development, that may result due to hormonal fluctuations though out your life-time.
Why are Laser/IPL treatments costly?
This simple reason for this is due to the high acquisition cost of machines, maintenance and the materials used during these treatments, are also very costly. However, when you consider the cost of waxing over the years, in addition to the time it takes out of your busy day – the benefits outweigh the initial upfront cost.
Will I have to come back for repeat skin rejuvenation treatments?
In relation to pigmentation - If you have skin that is easily sun-damaged (freckled) and pre-caution is not taken to protect your skin, by using sunscreen daily, in addition to a Vitamin c Serum to inhibit melanin from developing, it is likely you will need “top-up” treatments.
In relation to vascular lesions – It will depend what the trigger was. In some cases, you may only require a few treatments and no follow up, on the other hand, skin conditions such as Rosacea, and will need on-going maintenance and home care for the best possible results.
What areas of the body can be treated?
Generally any part of the body can be treated.
Exceptions include areas in close proximity to the eyes, the inner ear and nose.
The most popular areas for hair removal are the underarms, bikini, upper lip, chin, face, legs, back & chest.
The most popular areas for skin treatments are the face, arms, hands, décolletage and legs.
What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical, safe and gentle procedure that deeply exfoliates and polishes the skin to stimulate new cell growth. Using a gentle vacuuming system and diamond tips, microdermabrasion removes dead skin cells and unclogs pores.
What is sonophoresis?
Sonophoresis is a relaxing, non-invasive treatment that uses ultrasonic (soundwave) technology, warmth and motion energy. Treatment products applied following sonophoresis are absorbed up to 800 times deeper into the skin.
Is sonophoresis OK for sensitive skin?
It is suitable for all skin types and delivers excellent results.
What skin conditions can be helped with microplus+ treatments?
Microdermabrasion and sonophoresis combined medi-facials are an effective treatment for:
• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Acne, blackheads and congestion
• Minor scar revision

The Dermapen™ is a revolutionary micro-needling device which aims to tighten, lift and rejuvenate skin. The Dermapen™ can visibly improve the appearance of :
- fine lines
- surgical, acne and trauma scars
- stretch marks
How Does Micro-needling Work?
The Dermapen 3™ offers unparalleled collagen induction by harnessing the body's innate ability to re-grow and repair the skin as a response to micro-damage. This small, hand-held device delivers up to 1,300 micro punctures per second into the skin, thus stimulating the production of collagen and elastin and normalizing various skin functions.
Dermapen 3™’s controlled precision promotes the three phases of CIT mechanics, thus allowing for new collagen growth to occur.
The first phase begins with the release of the body’s own growth factors, followed by a cascade of new epidermal growth, fibroblast chemo-taxis, fibroblast proliferation, and matrix production.M
This proliferation of the body's tissue continues to release growth factors from fibroblasts, keratinocytes and monocytes, culminating in the second phase of CIT mechanics, where production of collagen I, III, and IV, elastin, proteoglycans and glycosoaminoglycans, and the process of angiogenesis occur.
The last phase of CIT and the desired result of a Dermapen™ Treatment is the tissue remodeling process, where the skin’s vascular matrix matures, causing skin to tighten. The body’s ability to remodel and heal itself is at the heart of this amazing product.
Moreover, because the process never involves heat or thermal energy, does not use harsh chemicals or cause unnecessary trauma, the skin heals quickly, requiring virtually no downtime.
Because the process activated via micro-needling essentially generates new healthy skin cells to replace aged or damaged ones, applications for the Dermapen™ are very diverse. The device has ben used to treat visible signs of aging, such as skin atrophy and wrinkles, as well as various types of scarring, stretch marks, several types of pigmentation disorders, sun damaged skin, hair loss, and much, much more.
Q: How many treatments are recommended for rejuvenation, acne scarring and stretch marks?
A:Rejuvenation: 4-6 treatments, 4 weeks apart
Acne scarring: 6 treatments, 6 weeks apart
Stretch marks: 4-8 treatments, 4-6 weeks apart
Q: Should I prepare my skin before having a Dermapen™ Treatment?
A:For optimal results, a period of effective active treatment creams, such as Vitamin A, C or Resveratrol & Procyanidin is recommended to allow the skin’s strength to build-up (especially for thin or delicate skin areas). Consult your clinician about the recommended DP Dermaceuticals™ Pre- and Post- procedure protocol.
Q: How long should it take before I see results?
A:Typically, you will see results after the first treatment. Lasting and more significant results will occur after 4 to 6 treatments (spaced 4-6 weeks apart). Your skin will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months after a course of treatments and when combined with the recommended post treatment care.
Q: Is the treatment painful?
A:For minimum needle depths Dermapen™ Treatments are painless. Treatments over 0.5mm deep, may require a topical anesthetic cream to be applied for 15-40 minutes before the procedure. This will render the treatments virtually pain free.
Q: Is there any downtime after treatments?
A:Generally no, but you may experience facial redness for 12-48 hours after the treatment. Most people are able to return to normal daily activities immediately after the treatment. Application of a breathable camouflage will seal the skin and cover any redness for an immediate return to work.
how it works
A specially designed hand piece is applied to your skin and transmits low level ultrasonic waves. These waves consist of compression - expansion impulses that travel in high-speed cycles.
how it works (cont.)
This back and forth cycle then causes an infinite quantity of micro-cavities or micro-bubbles that gradually enlarge.
how it works (cont.)
This progressive enlargement finishes as micro-bubbles start to collide and implode, producing shock waves that favour emulsification and elimination of fat tissues (this phenomena is called “cavitation”).
how it works
The liquid is then easily vacuumed out from the body using the lymphatic and urinary system.
The body eliminates the fat of a single session in approximately 3 – 5 days, so we recommend an interval of around one week between each session.
Weekly for 6 – 10 treatments
On average most patients require 6-10 treatments to achieve best possible results. Maintenance sessions as required are recommended thereafter.
Commitment to having treatments
prior to treatment
We recommend at least 1.5 litres of water before the session.
People with cardiac and vascular diseases, pacemaker carriers and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid undergoing the procedure.
* You should consult your doctor if you are uncertain if you are suitable.
Redness/Swelling- known as peri follicular oedema, which is simply an irritation around the hair follicle (this will subside within 24 – 72 hours post treatment)
Most people find that they can return to work and normal activities immediately after treatment.
You may be advised to use certain soothing lotions, creams or gels to lightly apply to the treated area.
• generally one cavitation treatment lasts 30 – 40 minutes where a single part of the body is treated
• clinician may mark the area to be treated
• a cold sensation initially will be felt, this is from the conductive gel, then a mild sensation will be felt while the hand piece is rotated over the treatment area
• some ringing in the ears may be sensed during the treatment due to the ear picking up the frequency omitted from the hand piece
• the treated area will be wiped clean after the treatment is completed
• We recommend a low calorie diet and drink at least 1.5 litres of water after the session
• Drinking water is a necessary part in order to eliminate the fat
• Regular exercise such as walking or other aerobic activities should also be maintained in order to help the system to naturally process the fat after the treatment

How is natural bee venom harvested?
Our BeeBio Bee Venom is derived from our own Honey Bees and is naturally harvested without injury to bees. New Zealand has pioneered the natural collection of bee venom form our bee hives. A small glass plate which has a small electrical charge is placed in front of each bee hive. When the bees land of the plate when returning to their hive they sting the glass plate which means they do not release their stingers in the process therefore the process is not harmful to the bees in any way. The liquid Venom is then allowed to dry in the sun and then collected in its natural state and is completely unprocessed before it is used in our skincare products.
To further protect our bees we only place the glass plate in front of the hive for a maximum of 30 minutes during the summer months when the 60,000 odd bees in each hive are their most active. This results in a very minimal disruption if any and allows our the bees to focus on the all-important collect of Pollen and Nectar during the summer harvesting season
Are bees killed in the venom collection process?
BeeBio is very bee friendly. Our collectors' harvest our bee venom without injury to bees. Then the actual Bee Venom is a completely natural ingredient and unprocessed in any way.
